Near a small town called Peebles, Ohio, right on the Kentucky border, General Electric
has been testing rocket and jet propulsion systems for over fifty years. Every GE jet engine sold must pass a gauntlet of tests before going into commercial service, so this facility operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The almost unsettling roar of the engines being throttled up is dampened only by the 10,000 acres of surrounding forest, which also provides an interesting contrast to the industrial
and often sci-fi geometry of the facility itself.
