GE: 3D-PRINTING AT AVIO AERO

At a state-of-the-art facility outside the city of Novara in northern Italy, GE’s Avio Aero uses additive manufacturing to produce complex aviation components. 3D-printing using high-powered lasers to melt metallic powders allows the realization of new part designs that use less material, thus saving on weight and cost while increasing the fuel efficiency of the aircraft they’re installed in.
