Block Island Wind Farm

In 2016, Deepwater Wind completed construction of the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States. Located four miles out from Rhode Island’s beautiful Block Island, the installation’s five, 600-foot-tall GE/Alstom Haliade-150 wind turbines generate 30 megawatts of electricity, enough energy to power all of the homes on the island and send some back to the mainland via undersea cables.
